Kindle, Nook, or Book?

I am an avid book reader. I go through books, like the Irish go through Guinness, no offense. I have them sprawled all over my room and also have several bins full in storage. This is where the question comes up for me. Should I get a Kindle or a Nook? I would clear up alot of space and I could even get free books and share books easily with friends. Plus I would save so much money not having to purchase batteries constantly for my book light. There are some cons for me as well. Is it really healthy to be holding on to this electronic book for several hours a day? Could it cause health concerns in the future? Could I honestly bring it to the beach with me and accidentally get it wet or wreck it with sand? Would my son throw it across the room or stomp on it for fun? It's a pretty pricey item to have and that's not including the books that you have to download. I have been pricing out the downloads compared to the books itself and several times, the book was cheaper than the download. I am very curious to hear what readers have to say about this. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on this.
